Analyzing Games & Simulations

Image
I love being outside and gardening so I selected Group 1: Farming Game/Simulation Title: Cornucopia  What was the game/simulation about?  Cornucopia is a free STEM education game developed by the California Academy of Sciences, designed classroom use and out-of-school programs such as camps, after-school programs and the like. It is a farm simulator where players manage a plot of land, plant crops, and earn points by leveling up the farm with green technology to meet the space and water needs of their crops ( California Academy of Sciences ).   What was the game/simulation about ? Cornucopia is an environmental simulation game that focuses on food systems, water usage, and sustainability. Players take on the role of a farmer, managing a plot of land where they plant various crops, specifically veggies and protein. The game challenges players to make decisions based on factors such as crop type, water availability, and sustainable farming practices to food demands su...

Advanced Designing Games for Learning - Spring 2025

I loved designing games for learning so much that I decided to dive into the advanced class. For now, I unpublished my first semester posts and will republish once I complete this class. Last semester both ignited and then reinforced my passion for creating games that blend educational content with real-world impact. To that end, here are several goals I hope to achieve during this class:  I would like to expand my technical toolkit. Basically to learn more advanced game development tools and framework to elevate and enhance my ability to create more sophisticated and interactive learning experiences.  I want to explore the use of simulations to create learning games that mirror real-world experiences. I'm thinking of social studies and history content....not that I will create in this class, but understanding how to design simulations would the main goal.  I love learning so there's that! More than anything, I want to learn more about designing games. Last semester was h...
